Revision of the basic settlement units

Main Author: Slovenskà Agentùra zivotnèho Prostredia
Description: SAZP manages Registry of basic settlement units which is used by Statistical office of the Slovak Republic for various purposes, most notably as the base spatial data for regular census. Due to heavy building construction and spreading of urban areas there is continuous need to revise the data. Main authority to do so are local municipalities. To avoid manual data processing, as used to be done previously, SAZP developed web based map editing application which allows responsible persons editing of respective data (e.g. merging units or splitting units by drawing split lines). All feedback including text information is done through application. Raw data is then processed by SAZP and published as public WMS service.
